Now that the NOOD’s are over and the Season is in full swing let’s all make sure we support our local events with great turnouts. Here is what is on tap for the remainder of the month of May.
Sat May 24th
is the Race to St Mike’s.
If you missed it last year you missed not only a great race but some great J70 food and drink. MRYC does a wonderful job of hosting the sailors and we will all meet at on outside area after racing to get the fleet together and have some food, drink and share some stories. This was a blast last year and should be even more fun this year so please enter and plan to attend.
Sat May 31st
is the Leukemia Cup.
This event is really for a great cause and it would be nice to have the J70 fleet well represented for this event. It is usually a 3 race day and EYC puts on a wonderful social after the racing. There is a special award for the largest fleet turnout, which was won by the J-105 fleet last year……Let’s put the J70 Fleet in the winners circle this year….please register and attend.
FLEET DUES ARE DUE!!!!!!
In other business the fleet dues are due. There are instructions here in the fleet news for paying by Pay Pal but nothing is better than a “Good Ole Check”. Mail to the following address:
Attn: J70 Fleet Dues
223 Winchester Beach Dr
Annapolis, MD 21409
Please pay one way or another right away.
Also If you had your boat weighed and had to purchase lead from the fleet lead supply please send a check for that also.
Now lets get some boats out for these next two events and show the other OD classes our fleet strength!
See you all on the water,
What a regatta! Isn’t it nice when so many 70s come to us and we don’t have to travel. Never a bad thing. Big thanks to Walt Pletcher and Todd Hiller for weighing many boats before the event. This is never easy and they took time out of their prep to get it done. Thanks again.
Thanks again also to Will Wells, Al Terhune and Tim Heally of North Sails for their post race data dump. Even if you weren’t racing, it was great to hear from some of leaders of the class.
